A recent report from the Door and Hardware Federation (DHF) Garage Door Group has found that 15 percent of currently installed domestic garage doors are either unsafe or have failed to comply with legally required testing procedures. In its findings, the report highlighted faults such as unprotected roller mechanisms and deficient fixings as common occurrences.
To meet the safety needs of consumers, P C Henderson introduces its premium range of sectional garage doors, Henderson Superior 42 and Henderson Superior +42. The motorised systems are designed to provide users with protection from injury with the presence of covered rollers, rail runners, tension springs and a cable guide positioned on the inside. Both models feature ball bearing-mounted rollers, offering a smooth and quiet operation. The garage doors also include vented rubber seals at the base to keep the inside of properties watertight all year round, providing excellent weather resistance. Available to order directly from a new especially dedicated website, consumers will have the option to buy their choice of sectional garage door and customise it with different colour, style and finish options.
P C Henderson has a long history of producing high quality garage doors and this new product range meets with the DHF good practice guidelines. The benefit of working to these guidelines is that the complete system can be installed, maintained, repaired and used in a safe manner. Consumers can also purchase P C Henderson’s survey and installation service, for extra peace of mind.
As one of the largest and heaviest moving part in the home, garage doors should meet stringent criteria in regards to safety. The main testing standards are covered by EN 13241-1 for the complete door and a fire test according to EN 13823 for the door panels. P C Henderson’s garage doors comply with the Construction Products Regulation; which includes a Declaration of Performance, and the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations; which encompass CE marking on the product as well as a Declaration of Conformity to show that it has undergone the required testing, therefore meeting the necessary legal requirements. Furthermore, both products come with a 10 year warranty.
Andrew Royle, UK Commercial Director, P C Henderson adds: “Over the years we have been the UK’s leading manufacturer of garage doors. In fact, we invented the up and over garage door in the 1950’s and by the 1960’s we had installed around 50 percent of all garage doors in the UK. With our new premium offering, we hope to reduce the number of unsafe and non-compliant domestic garage doors being installed by offering customers high quality, approved sectional garage doors that are safe, secure and fully customisable to suit individual tastes.”
